UNIGIS professional

UNIGIS professional is a 1-year university study program with 60 European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) points. The program is designed to develop or improve application-oriented skills and provide an understanding of GIS. The curriculum primarily targets those already engaged in GIS related jobs and/or those who have some background in a spatial discipline. 

Format
UNIGIS professional is a distance learning university program that is designed for working professionals, who study from home. No residential phases are required. The minimum study duration is 1 year, a free extension phase of additional 6 months is provided. Based on student evaluations, the average weekly workload amounts to 12-15 hours. 

Qualification

Graduates will be awarded an “Academic Certificate in Geographical Information Systems” by the University of Salzburg.

The UNIGIS professional modular structure includes seven compulsory modules and a choice of elective subjects. The programme content covers acquisition, modelling, and visualisation of spatial data, geographical analysis, geoDBMS and application software development.
